School Uniforms: Martial Art Students

Posted by Spring & Autumn Martial Arts Monday, May 17, 2010

Students have asked many questions regarding my uniform policy. I tend to be lax on this subject mainly because of the financial investment of ordering a uniform. But for myself, there is nothing more important than having a good set of training clothes and shoes to depend on. With this in mind, I want to make available to all students uniforms for class. These uniforms are hand-made at Wudang, and fit the appropriate attire for both martial arts classes, and events involving martial arts training.

The uniform requested for martial art students are the "monk style" side-clasp uniform, as pictured to the right. This uniform is the traditional garb at Wudang, and depending on your style, it will affect the color.

Students enrolled in Wudang Gongfu are requested to wear this side-clasp uniform in blue.

Students enrolled in Wudang Taijiquan classes are requested to wear this side-clasp uniform in white.

These uniforms are 35% cotton / 65% polyester. They have elastic an elastic waist and ankle cuffs, to prevent stepping on the bottoms. They are designed specifically for martial artists, so there is no issues with high kicking or low stances tearing the inseams. The tops hang at a medium length, and have loose fitting sleeves.

Uniforms cost are broken down by size, and they include the shipping fees I will pay to get them here from my master, in Boston. I accept cash and check for uniforms, and the estimated delivery time is a bit under a week.

Remember, the uniform includes only the pants and top. It is also recommended students have flat-soled shoes to prevent injury and damage to the back, knees, and ankles. You can swing by East Coast Martial Art Supply to pick some up (basic kung fu slipper starts at $10.00), or you can check out a variety of footwear at Superior Martial Arts, online. There are a variety of shoes ranging from sneakers, to boots, to slippers. I always recommend the slip-ons because are the least intrusive into your training, and are easy to wash, shrink, and replace. Be sure to order shoes a few sizes smaller than usual, as they will stretch with wear.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
