Representative Strengthening Posture -- Remember this posture should have the arms in front of the shoulders, and the back should be rounded while the chest is concaved. The posture twists, but the knees stay wide, and both feet have pressure. The side you're turning towards should have the majority of your weight, and that hand is on the inside during application.
Pushing Strike Strengthening Posture -- The hands judge where the elbows will end up. Allow the arms to be in front of the body, and keep them even. It's okay to not be turned as far for this posture, as long as the elbows stay semi-close together.
Straight Double Pushing Strike Stationary Drilling Method -- It's okay to favor a side for the wind up, but vary it up and mix between the two and center. allow the force to rise up from the reaction force of the body pushing against the earth. Keep the hands turned so the base of the palms are near each other, and the fingers to the sides.
Straight Pushing Strike Stationary Drilling Method -- The strike comes from the bottom. The reaction force hand returns to the Lower Dantian, not the hip. Allow the hips to shoot back to deliver the power, but do not lean forward. This creates a rising and sinking motion in the body, and it matches the hand-elbow transition.
Loosening Drills -- These take time and practice just as the rest of the skills. Allow the twisting to develop from the shifting of weight, and the relaxation of the shoulders, elbows, arms, and hips will create the flowing/whipping motions. Vary up your tempo, speed, aggression, and suppleness to help find the fluidity and softness.
Great class, although it was really cold with that wind! Keep training those Dragon Hands, and strengthening your hands by doing this will help you maintain the proper positioning when in the cold. These can be practiced anytime, anywhere! Same with the breathing drills.
